Who are fan subbers and what type of day jobs do they usually have?
Main Post:
Been curious for awhile, but who are fan subbers in terms of how they have the time to do this for the community. Are they usually professionally in the media industry? How do you become one?

Fan subbers are just normal people that know Japanese that subtitle anime as a hobby.
Results of JP fan poll on main jobs in 6.1.
Main Post:
Here's the results of a Japanese fan poll conducted yesterday. At the link there's a lot of comments from fans saying what they like about each job, some comments mentioning PVP performance so looks like many fans' picks were based on the new PVP as well as PVE.
- Ninja (7.4%)
- White mage (7.2%)
- Samurai (6.6%)
- Dark Knight (6.4%)
- Dragoon (6.3%)
- Red Mage (5.7%)
- Warrior (5.5%)
- Bard (5.3%)
- Scholar (5.2%)
- Reaper (5.2%)
- Gunbreaker (5.1%)
- Paladin (4.8%)
- Monk (4.8%)
- Astrologian (4.4%)
- Dancer (4.4%)
- Black mage (4.3%)
- Sage (4.2%)
- Summoner (3.9%)
- Machinist (3.3%)
Compared to the 6.0 survey, there's been a falling off in the new jobs (Reaper, Sage), the poster job (Paladin), and SMN. SAM especially NIN have climbed (NIN was at 3.5% last time).

Timer for the exhaust fan after the job is complete?
Main Post:
Hi guys.Currently, I have my exhaust fan connected to a relay, that is activated directly by the laser's main switch. I did that because more than once I forgot to turn on the fan when I was cutting. Also, sometimes I forgot to turn it off and would leave it running for hours after I had finished working.
Anyway, after learning about the status pin on the RUIDA controller, now I know I can have it turn on when I send the job, and turn off after it ends. However, I'd like the fan to keep running 15~20 seconds to suck any remaining smoke in the chamber before I open my lid.
Is there any "timed relay" on the market I can use for this idea? Or some kind of timer I can hook up to my currently installed relay?

That one in mode "E" should work.
It turns on when the signal is high and it turns off some time after the falling edge. If the signal goes high again during the delay, it resets.
This one should also work:

Not sure why it starts with being on for the set duration, though. That part is kinda weird.
Anyone Got A Updated Shadowbringers PVE Job Actions Icon Pack Fan Kit?
Main Post:
https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/fankit/icon/
Hasn’t been updated for Shadowbringers, so wondering if someone has a updated one somewhere that they compiled themselves.

xivapi has an api to get icons and also some icon sets https://xivapi.com/docs/Icons
if you don't want to search through those or implement the call yourself, hojoring (an act plugin) implements the code that gets class/job icons from xivapi https://github.com/anoyetta/ACT.Hojoring/blob/bb0d461587141a08a63f7128bc1a82440791e6f1/source/FFXIV.Framework/FFXIV.Framework/xivapi/XIVAPIController.cs
this code can be invoked through spespe (a module in hojoring). to invoke it, download act and install the hojoring plugin, go to the spespe tab, create a new trigger for a spell, go to visual, click the "get icons" link. this will download all the icons and dump them in "<act folder>/plugin/Hojoring Plugin/resources/xivdb/Action icons"
Results of Japanese fan poll for main jobs in 6.2.
Main Post:
Umadori has released the results of their usual job survey they do for each patch:
- Dark Knight (7%)
- Samurai (6.9%)
- Reaper (6.9%)
- Gunbreaker (6.8%)
- Dragoon (5.8%)
- Red Mage (5.7%)
- Scholar (5.5%)
- Warrior (5.5%)
- Summoner (5.4%)
- Ninja (5.3%)
- Dancer (4.9%)
- Sage (4.8%)
- Bard and Monk (tied) (4.5%)
- White Mage (4.4%)
- Astrologian (4.3%)
- Black Mage (4.2%)
- Paladin (4.2%)
- Machinist (3.4%)
It's an online fan poll so take with the usual grain of salt, but just as interesting are the comments from JP fans on why they picked their main. The comments range from meta-focused (couple of comments mentioning Dark Knight is the strongest tank right now), to lore (the recent void focus seems to have boosted Reaper), to aesthetics ('Gunbreaker is stylish').

Machinist is so low and still no buffs... saddening.
What jobs should I look for if I’m not a fan of going from job to job
Main Post:
Been working in the field now for over a year and the systems and machines I work on are very interesting and learning about them is my favorite part of my job. However I’m not a big fan of hopping from job to job, being out on the road all day and just generally not feeling like I have a solid workspace. My question is, what kind of jobs should I look into where I can basically be in one spot all day working on these systems? I’ve read about chiller operators and it interests me greatly.

Im in the same place all day. My position is HVAC mechanic at a municipal water treatment plant. I perform preventive maintenance and repairs on all of the hvac equipment on the plant that consists of 18 buildings. I also operate and maintain the boilers. It’s nice but tbh I’ve been thinking about switching to a standard technician job because it’s not everyday we get to troubleshoot and technicians make more money. It has its pros and cons.

The lack of fan noise is one of those myriad invisible advantages that come with a Mac. The iMacs in particular are all dead silent when running, whereas my PCs have always sounded like aircraft taking off.
